To start off the new year, Clash Royale just got its new Season 79 with a Fire & Ice theme. To celebrate, players also get some new Hero cards to compete this time around. These are the Hero Ice Golem and Hero Wizard, which are basically upgraded versions of the regular golem and wizard cards. However, the Hero Wizard specializes in fire powers that perfectly clash with the Ice Golem. Here’s how to best use these special Heroes for this new season.
How Long Will Season 79 Last?

Every Season on Clash Royale starts on the first Monday of every month. This means that Season 79 will end on the first Monday for February. If you don’t manage to get the new Hero cards before the next Season, you can still get them! They might not be available in the next set of banners, but they can always rerun.
Both the new Heroes continue to stay useable no matter what Season you’re in and upgradable. The only thing that really has a time limit are the events happening in the Fire & Ice theme. To progress in the new season a bit faster, you can find some new Clash royale accounts for sale right here today!
The Battle Banners

With the new Heroes, there’s also some new Battle Banners that are themed around them too. These are the Hero Wizard Draft and the Snowstorm banners. The Wizard Draft was first to drop and ends on the 12th this month, but it gives you the chance to try the new Hero Wizard. The same can be said about the Hero Ice Golem for the second banner, which launches on the 23rd nearing the end of the season.
Both Battle Banners have specific scenarios going on to test out the new Hero abilities and challenge your skills. For example, the Snowstorm banner will have a blizzard blowing against your troops, affectively freezing them still. To help yourself, you must use the Hero Wizard to melt the ice away and move your troops forward. Both banners have a maximum of three losses before you have to start all over. Winning will reward you with some new frames and emote cosmetics from each.
The New Heroes

Right now, the only new Hero card that’s available is the Hero Wizard with his powerful fire powers. The Hero Ice Golem will release officially on January 19th. The current Battle Banners can be used to test out the Hero Wizard to get a better idea on his abilities, and the same can be assumed for when the Hero Ice Golem actually comes out. Despite that, we still have quite a bit of detail about their powers and possible deck synergies.
The Hero Wizard

The Hero Wizard’s main ability is called Fiery Flight. With this skill, he’ll take to the air and start launching several Fire Tornados against enemy troops. The ability can be used with only 1 Elixir, so it’s a surprisingly cheap power despite its strength. When using Fiery Flight, his movement speed will also be heavily increased and becomes invincible to all ground enemies.
The Fire Tornados not only deal some massive damage, but also attracts enemies together. In other words, the tornados work as a type of magnet against troops. Even with massive enemies, the tornados will bring them closer for some damage and trapping them in the fire. This works not only as a great trick, but also for better crowd control when you’re starting to feel overwhelmed by bigger armies.
The Hero Ice Golem

Moving on to the next Hero, the Ice Golem for this Season still hasn’t released yet. As mentioned prior, he’ll be dropping on January 19th near the end of the event. However, we already have a bunch of stat and ability information to help you plan your future decks with him. One of these are details about his special ability, which is the Snowstorm similar to that seen in the Battle Banners.
Instead of 1 Elixir like the Hero Wizard, the Hero Ice Golem’s ability costs 2. This isn’t too expensive, but still something to remember and consider when using a lot. Also similar to the Hero Wizard, the Snowstorm is another AOE attack, but it spawns around the Golem instead of being launched forward. The exact radius of the move is 4 tiles. It also moves with the Golem, so it can prove deadly as a sort of tank move against enemy crowds.
While the Snowstorm ability is active, three Snowstorm Blasts will spawn too. Each one gives massive knockback and damage to all enemies hit. However, on the third hit, the enemies will freeze for a short period. The attacks can hit both ground and air troops as well, so they’re incredibly versatile during matches. They’re perfect for crowd control and moving inside enemy territory faster.
